Thank you, Christina. Before we dive into the deeper academic theories, let's look at the basic principles of motivation that we just experienced in our drawing challenge.

Motivation generally comes in two forms. In Round 1, you drew simply for the joy of it. This is Intrinsic Motivation. You did it for fun, with no external pressure.

But in Rounds 2 and 3, when we introduced the voting competition, the candy, and the money, your focus shifted. This is Extrinsic Motivation, doing an activity to get an external reward. You probably noticed that the reward might have made you work faster, but it also added stress and may have blocked your true creativity.

To explain exactly why this happens, I will now pass the floor back to Christina to introduce the Self-Determination Theory.

Alright guys, time flies! To wrap up our seminar today, let's quickly review our 3 Key Takeaways.

Number one: Extrinsic rewards improve simple tasks.

Number two: In creative tasks, rewards undermine intrinsic motivation. Just like we saw when you were drawing under pressure.

Number three: Long-term motivation depends on fulfilling three basic needs: Autonomy, Competence, and Relatedness.

Thank you so much for your participation and your amazing drawings today! To show our appreciation, we have some candies for everyone to enjoy!
